Master Bed and Bath Update- Lawrence, KS

Sep 1, 2026

This homeowner wanted to refresh the master bedroom and master bathroom. The bathroom still had carpet, and they were ready for it to go. I was hired to fix the drywall cracks and repair holes and dents left by previous owners in the ceiling and walls, then repaint the whole space. I also pulled the doors for a spray finish, tore out the bathroom carpet, and installed new floor tile.

This project was mostly straightforward, but the subfloor in the bathroom created a real challenge. The transition from the water closet to the tub and sink area had a major height difference, so I had to start low near the water closet and work up gradually to make the floor level out cleanly into the bedroom. That meant using large-format tile and floating sections with extra thinset to get it level. The drywall repairs themselves were simple, but the wall texture turned out to be made with an additive mixed into the paint. Once I figured that out, I could match the texture and blend the drywall repairs into the existing walls.

I am proud of how the floor tile turned out. The drywall repairs and patches blended in cleanly, with a texture match on the ceiling and walls that is hard to spot. The homeowner was very happy with the result.
